This week for my summer class, the NYU Hyperlocal Newsroom Summer Academy, we had to do an audio slide show about an East Village pet. An audio slide show is basically your run-of-the-mill slide show, but with some background sound superimposed with the pictures using Final Cut. My professor wanted us to have the owner tell a story about their pet and then match the pictures of the pet to the owner’s voice.
I’ve been super-stressed lately (since when do I have to schedule time to do laundry and clean the bathroom? Since I got a job and a large course load), so I went out last night to get the initial reporting done, though it was a bit rainy and muddy. I found an owner without any serious issues and she told me a little about her dog Leeloo. I took a ton of pictures of Leeloo playing and being cute and whatnot and then called it a night.
I’m pretty positive that my professor will have some suggestions for me once she reviews the draft, but, once I finished, I was pretty impressed with myself. I want to tweak a few things here and there, though I know it won’t ever be as perfect as I’d like (sucks being a perfectionist in an industry where time is a major player).
